Most of us will stick with a good car mechanic or garage once we find one because we understand the importance of having a safe and reliable vehicle. You would not want your mechanic messing about under the bonnet of your car with only a screw driver and some duct tape. The consequences of letting a poor piping tutor teach you how to play the bagpipes may not be as dire as letting a poor mechanic loose with your car (this is debatable!) but the end product is that neither the car nor your piping ability is fit for purpose.
It is important to get good instruction when you want to learn a new subject or hobby. Piping like many other things in life will never develop correctly if the foundations are not laid properly. Good instruction is worth its weight in gold no matter what the subject matter is.
I have been playing Bagpipes for over 30 years, I have played with some of the best pipe bands in the world and have played alongside and worked with some of the finest solo players in the world. I have accumulated a vast knowledge of all things piping and pipe band and for the past ten years I have been using this knowledge to teach Army Pipers, Cadet Pipers and many school children
In summary, I am an energetic, enthusiastic piper with excellent communication skills and an interest in a wide spectrum of music. I have many years experience teaching NVQ/SVQ, SQA and PDQB. I enjoy travelling, meeting like minded people and feel very comfortable in a teaching environment.
